Founded in 1999, the Ligue d’improvisation musicale de Québec is celebrating 20 years this year, which makes it the oldest in the world! Of exceptional encounters
As well, every first Monday of the month, on the stage of the Imperial Bell, two teams of four musicians “compete” by deploying their talents to offer a service unique on the theme given by the facilitator and so to make them live unique moments to the public, under the watchful eye of a seasoned arbitrator. After each ” room “, the public decides as to which team offered the best improvisation using voting cards. Needless to say, the meeting of professional musicians from all walks of life – pop, rock, folk, jazz, traditional – sparks and surprises and a host of emotions.
A trial became a tradition
The Ligue d’improvisation musicale de Québec has seen the light of day in 1999, while musicians have grouped together to do an essay on the theatrical improvisation. The experience proved conclusive, so much so that they decided to renew it. The early years of improvisation took place in a Crazy Bar, and then at the salle Multi of the Coopérative Jellyfish. In recent years, the musicians found themselves in the Circle. From October 2018, it is Imperial that the evenings of improvisation takes place.
