The charm of Italy, combined with the comfort of an all-inclusive : this is what the new Club Med Cefalù located in Sicily, 90 minutes from Palermo.

View over the bay of Cefalù.

Built on the site of one of the first Club Med of the company, which opened in 1957 and closed in 2006 to be completely renovated, this village offers a breathtaking view over The Rocca, the mountain that dominates the bay of Cefalù.

Located on the north coast of Sicily, the resort is built in a decoration for a rocky and hilly, bordering the Mediterranean sea, almost to the side of the cliff.

The view is so beautiful that you’ll want to take photos from all angles. Also, a number of locations on the site were marked with a medallion, encouraging visitors to capture the panorama.

The stone buildings in which are located some of the rooms reminiscent of the rocky landscape of Sicily.

The buildings are constructed of wood and stone, reminiscent of the landscape of Sicily. Here and there, one sees a fig tree of Barbarism, these cactus with palms flattened, are found in certain arid regions.

At its re-opening in June, this all-inclusive has become the first 5-Trident (the equivalent of a five-star) in Europe of the chain Club Med.

The “villettas”, small bungalows, offer an intimate experience and luxury.

The villettas offer a private terrace. Some have been on the sea and the Rocca, a rock which overlooks Cefalù.

There are now some 300 rooms, suites and ” villettas “, small bungalows to intimate. All are double occupancy. One room can accommodate four people.

Children eight years and older are accepted, but they may find the time long.

To the sea

The hotel is built almost to the side of the cliff. Below, you can see the pontoon on which we are invited to soak up before we throw them into the water.

For swimming, we are guests of us settled on a large pontoon boat located at the side of the cliff with sun loungers, chairs and parasols. The experience, which is different from that seen in the all-inclusive South America, will be appreciated by those who do not like to finish the day off sunscreen and sand.

For those who prefer the beach, a small plot of land is available near the pontoon.

Attention, however, when the wind rises, the sea access is prohibited for security reasons. It is then necessary to fall back on one or the other of the two swimming pools, which can be frustrating.

Discover the Sicily

Several excursions are offered ($) as a visit to Palermo, a fishing expedition or a helicopter tour above the island of Stromboli and its active volcano. Thanks to the concierge service, we can even put together his own expedition.

But no need of guide to visit the old town of Cefalù. Along the bay, it is reached by a 20-minute walk. The visit is really worth seeing and the beach is nice.

Italian cuisine

The buffet menu has been concocted by michelin-starred chef Andrea Berton. The products of Italy and Sicily, such as lemon, olive oil, ham and mozzarella cheese are obviously highlighted. We eat like kings, which is not little to say in an all inclusive. Even the most picky eater will enjoy.

Also, every evening, 18 h, Champagne Laurent-Perrier is served to the guests on the terrace.

During our visit last June, the resort had not yet opened its doors officially. The landscaping was not finished and neither is the pool of natural water or the restaurant Il Palazzo were open. Several technical problems, including problems with the air conditioning, the hot water and the lights in the rooms were ascertained. Club Med assures us, however, that everything is back in order
