A man in his twenties died in the end of the night, Wednesday, in a violent exit from the road to Saint-Agapit, in the MRC de Lotbinière.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of his vehicle, deviated from its lane for an unknown reason and was then found in a field along the avenue Bergeron (route 273) on the territory of the municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches.
The accident happened at about 3 a.m. in the morning. The police officers of the Sûreté du Québec and fire department of Saint-Agapit visited the scene of the incident.
The cause of the lurch has not been determined, but according to the first observations of the police officers from the SQ, alcohol or drugs are not involved.
“According to initial findings, there does not appear to be a criminal element,” says Christine Coulombe, a spokesperson for the police force.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where one feared for his life. The authorities announced in the morning that the man unfortunately did not survive his injuries.
The identity of the motorist was not revealed Wednesday morning.
An investigator in the collision is moved on the premises of the exit road. Traffic was disrupted for a few hours. The situation has returned to normal by 8 h.
