ROBERVAL | The Coalition avenir Québec has chosen the former city councillor Nancy Guillemette for wearing his colors in the electoral district of Roberval.

Ms. Guillemette has been a councillor in the City of Roberval from 2008 to 2017. She had then chosen not to seek third term, saying to be at odds with the mayor at the time, Guy Larouche.

She is currently the director-general of the organization mental Health Quebec/Lac-Saint-Jean in addition to having been a representative to the council of the regional county municipality of Domaine-du-Roy for four years.

“Our candidate has a very diversified course which has enabled him to acquire a solid experience in management and also in politics. This is a woman of the place, and who knows how to take his place”, welcomed the prime minister and leader of the CAQ, François Legault.

Moreover, it is Luc-Antoine Cauchon, who will try to get elected in Roberval, under the banner of Québec solidaire, as was the case during the most recent general election.

Mr. Cauchon, who is head chef and “independence activist of long-standing”, arrived third place on October 1, with 10.7 % of the vote.

“Nothing is played in advance. The elections of the 1st of October last year have proven one thing: the castles no longer exist in Quebec and Roberval, qc, is no exception to that!” said the door-word of QS Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, who seems to believe in the chances of its candidate to be elected.

A by-election in Roberval, in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, has become necessary since the resignation of Philippe Couillard on October 4, a few days after his party had been relegated to the official opposition.

The voting will take place on 10 December.

The Parti québécois and the Quebec liberal Party have not yet announced who will represent them in this riding.
