“I know of nothing that looks like that. It is really special. It is a unique place, ” says Aluargo Gutiérrez, a Colombian, met with The Log at the ice Hotel, Saturday.

More than ever, the building of the ephemeral draws crowds since its opening there are more than a week, and, in particular, to international tourists, who are always more likely to come to admire it.

While many foreigners come to visit the place to-day, arriving often by coach, other people want to live the ultimate experience of an overnight stay nordic is very popular with the Americans, the Asians, and, increasingly, by tourists from the Middle East.

The interest of the international media, does not weaken either. Fifteen journalists, Mexicans, and French in particular, have confirmed their presence during the period of the Carnival of Quebec.

Final touch

Open all day since the 27th of December and at night since 3 January, the ice Hotel is not yet quite finished, so that the rooms remain to be carved. The common areas were however completed.

Artists are always at work, such as Herve Bouvet, which was Saturday, the final touch to a chandelier of 1000 books in the form of a snowy owl, on which he worked more than 40 hours. “It really is the passion. The time does not count any more, ” says the man, who is practically in position, seven days a week since mid-November.
