Dozens of beaches almost deserted. The cabañas at the water’s edge. Outdoor activities are plentiful. Do you know the region of Costalegre, on the Pacific coast of Mexico?

According to the New York Times (NYT), it is the destination of mexico where it must go if we want to enjoy the sun without the crowds.

The prestigious daily has placed it in 16th place in its top 52 best places to travel in 2019.

Located in the State of Jalisco, half way between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, Costalegre (“côte joyeuse”) is a tourism corridor consisting of six small regions, and a quarantine of beaches, crc risks and bays very poorly attended, at the edge of the Pacific ocean.

For the moment, we can mostly stay in small hotels or houses at the edge of the ocean, and the nearest airport is Puerto Vallarta, a two-hour drive.

But things might change soon, if we are to believe the NYT. An airport less distant will open its doors in 2019 (the airport Chalacatepec) and a number of luxury hotels should make their appearance on the coast during the next few years.
